I don't recall ever making New Year's resolutions in January. I have set PROFESSIONAL GOALS in September every year as it is the start of a new school year and I am a teacher, but never New Year's resolutions. However, I feel the need to make some big changes in my life. Several factors have brought most of these issues to a head, but for the sake of brevity, I will not bore you with these details. I am listing them here for those who are interested and for my own benefit.
- Watch more movies - My HD DVD player and I, in partnership with my Netflix account, have a pact to spend more time together.
- Lose weight - Yes, I am joining the millions of Americans who resolve to fight the battle of the bulge this year. And yes, I still plan to continue to eat and exercise long after most of these healthy hopefuls have reverted back to old habits. Inspired by "The Biggest Loser", Oprah, the Healthy Catholic Podcast and others, I will strive to make the necessary changes in my lifestyle to get fit and stay that way.
- Read the Bible in a Year - I don't think I have the discipline to read the Good Book everyday in print so I have subscribed to the "One Year Bible on Radio" podcast. It covers a daily section from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs as presented by Tom Dooley (really?). What a great way to use my drive time!
- Be more involved in the household finances. With help from David Ramsey, I hope to stop working for the credit card companies soon.
There are other minor resolutions, but these are my major ones. I plan to blog on these and other items regular.
